Building Our First House - Waterproofing, Backfill & Foundation Poured + Progress Pics

Image
Hi Beauties! Just a few progress photos of our home construction. Last week they waterproofed the foundation walls, did the plumbing in the basement and backfilled. I was especially excited to see everything after the backfill, because we can finally get a sense of how big our house will be, and what size yard (or lack thereof haha) that we are looking at ;)  Early this week, our foundation was poured! Which means framing should begin sometime in the next week, so excited! The builders are running about a week behind at this time, so please cross your fingers for us that the weather stays nice and dry so that they are able to catch up and we can avoid crazy loan lock fees! 7/22 Waterproofing  7/26 Backfill, Support Beams & Rebar 7/26 Backfill, Support Beams & Rebar 7/29 Foundation Poured 7/29 Foundation Poured Also, I FINALLY uploaded a new video on my Youtube channel this week! Hi Beauties. Hope all of you are having a fab week! I wanted to thank you all so much for the love on my last "Building Our First Home" post!  read it here:   Color Selection Appointment & Design Center Today I will be sharing our exterior color choices! :) Let me start off by saying, choosing a siding color was by far the hardest choice we made in this entire process. I feel that the exterior of a home is a true reflection of it's owners; and there were 3 things that we were certain we wanted for our new home, - a front porch - colonial or southern feel/ siding color -red front door BUT, herein lies the problem when working with a development builder.. typically, (at least this was the case for us) you must adhere to the builder's rules and the HOA. For us this meant, our siding and brick color had to be different from all of our bordering neighbors. It also meant, no red front door. Lucky for us, we are the first home to be built on one side of the ...

HI   Beauties . As many of you know, I have been a bit MIA for the past few months in the youtube/blogging world. With my husband's detachment from the Navy, starting a new job, and moving back to Southern Maryland; things have been hectic! But we've also been very busy with something exciting! ...  My Husband and I are Building Our First Home !!! In our 6 years as a Navy family (hubby served for 8) we have had to move quite a bit. While we have both loved exploring new cities, I'm not sure that we ever grew completely accustomed to the many "joys" of renting *note sarcasm* ;]  Now that my husband is a civilian, we are finally ready to put down roots in our hometown and start our lives in our first true "home" together. Of course I will be taking all of my favorite beauties along with us on our journey. I will be sharing our new home decisions, trials, tribulations and exciting updates with all of you!  So far our experience has been a ...
